8:30 -11:30 am – Dr. Mark Egbert – Pediatric Jaw Deformities and Pediatric Maxillofacial Pathology

Dr. Egbert is Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Seattle Children’s Hospital where he has practiced for nearly thirty three years. He is associate professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, and he has an adjunct appointment in the Division of Plastic Surgery in the School of Medicine.
Dr. Egbert’s primary interests are focused around the treatment of children with oral and maxillofacial surgical needs. These include the correction and management of dental and skeletal problems associated with multiple craniofacial diagnoses, in particular problems associated with facial clefting and jaw size anomalies. The management of routine and unique pathologies involving the face, mouth, jaws and teeth of children is also an interest and large part of his practice at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Egbert has been an active supporter of organized OMS, being involved with The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) on many levels. He currently serves in the position of Sixth District Trustee representing the nine States of the Western Society of OMS to the AAOMS. He has served for eight years on the examining committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He continues to serve as a reviewer for several journals, including the International Journal of OMS, the American Journal of OMS, and the Triple O journal.

12:30 – 3:30 pm: Dr. Russell Ettinger – Pediatric Transgender Health

Dr. Russell E. Ettinger is an Assistant Professor and Craniofacial Surgeon in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery with expertise in both pediatric and adult craniofacial reconstruction.  His primary areas of interest include cleft lip and palate, orthognathic surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, adult facial trauma, facial burn reconstruction, and gender affirming surgery.  His primary sites of practice include Seattle Children’s Hospital and Harborview Medical Center.  Dr. Ettinger received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and matriculated to the University of Washington School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree.  He completed his residency training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan, including a one-year T-32 NIH research fellowship where Dr. Ettinger investigated translational approaches to the pharmacologic augmentation on bone healing in the setting of radiation induced injury.  He then returned to Seattle to complete his Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Harborview Medical Center, after which he was recruited to join the faculty within the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.  When not caring for patients Dr. Ettinger enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and enjoying all that the outdoor activities that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
