Welcome to Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentists

The Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentists serves to synergistically represent pediatric oral health and the specialty of pediatric dentistry in the state of Washington. This specialty organization is directly concerned with the oral health of children. It works for the best interests of infants, toddlers, adolescents, teenagers, and individuals with special health care needs through collaboration, education, research and practice.

Pediatric dentistry is a recognized specialty of dentistry, which requires additional training beyond dental school. A pediatric dentist must satisfy both didactic and clinical requirements from an accredited institution to be considered a specialist. These specialists are trained to manage oral disease, while monitoring growth and development of infants, children, adolescents, teenagers, and persons with disabilities of all behavior patterns. A pediatric dentist also is capable of providing age-appropriate treatment recommendations with regard to continuous and comprehensive care in this patient population.
